Undergraduate Admissions: The Path to Affinity

1. Submit Your Primary Application

  • Platform: Apply exclusively through the Common App or our proprietary Affinity Application Portal.

  • Holistic Review: Our admissions committee, guided by the interdisciplinary philosophy of our faculty, evaluates academic transcripts, extracurricular leadership, and your personal narrative.

  • Application Fee: $75 (Fee waivers available for eligible domestic and international students).

2. Transcripts & Academic Credentials

  • Official Records: Submit official high school transcripts via Naviance, Parchment, or your school counselor.

  • International Students: Transcripts from non-US curricula (A-Levels, IB, etc.) must be submitted with a certified English translation and a WES Basic evaluation if requested.

  • Transfer Students: Must provide transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.

3. Standardized Testing (Test-Optional Policy)

  • Policy: Affinity University is Test-Optional for the 2026-2027 cycle.

  • Submission: Students may choose to submit SAT (Code: 1234) or ACT (Code: 5678) scores if they believe they reflect their academic potential.

  • Note: Applicants to the BS in Mathematics (Turing Scholars) or Mechanical Engineering (Tesla Track) are encouraged to submit quantitative scores.

4. The Affinity Personal Statement

  • Prompt: Beyond the Common App essay, we require a 250-word supplement: "At Affinity, we bridge the gap between history and the future. Which Faculty Legend (e.g., Curie, Da Vinci, or Smith) inspires your academic curiosity, and why?"

5. Letters of Recommendation

  • Requirement: One (1) Counselor Recommendation is required.

  • Optional: Up to two (2) additional letters from teachers or mentors who can speak to your aptitude in your chosen major (e.g., a science teacher for Pre-Med/Biology).

6. Track Your Status (The Applicant Portal)

  • Within 48 hours of submission, you will receive credentials for the Affinity Applicant Dashboard. Use this to track document arrival, upload optional portfolios (required for BFA and Architecture), and view your final decision

Admissions Application Deadlines & Priority Dates

  • Early Decision Deadline (Status: Closed for 2025)

    • First year admissions applications are due by November 1

  • Regular Decision Deadline

    • Applications are due by January 15

  • Transfer Student Deadline

    • We offer Rolling Admission for transfers, meaning applications are reviewed as they are received until the class is full

  • Financial Aid & Scholarship Deadline

    • To be considered for max funding, submit your FASFA and scholarship materials by March 1

  • When will I hear back?

    • Decision notifications are sent on a Rolling Basis or no later than April 1 for Regular Decision Applicants

Graduate Admissions: Advanced Study at Affinity

1. Select Your Application Track

  • Centralized Portal: All Master’s applications are submitted through the Affinity Graduate CAS (Centralized Application Service) here.

  • Selection: Applicants must select their specific degree and faculty mentor (e.g., Dr. W. Edwards Deming for the Analytics MBA) at the time of submission.

  • Application Fee: $90 (Non-refundable).

2. Academic Transcripts & Degree Verification

  • Requirement: An earned Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited US institution or its international equivalent.

  • Submission: Digital copies are accepted for review; official physical transcripts are required upon enrollment.

  • GPA Threshold: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is generally required for competitive consideration.

3. Standardized Testing (Program-Specific)

  • GMAT/GRE: Required for the MBA, MIA, and all MS Engineering/Science programs. (Affinity GRE Code: 9999).

  • Waivers: Professional experience waivers are available for the Executive MBA track for candidates with 10+ years of leadership.

  • MFA/Clinical Psych: The GRE is optional for the MFA in Creative Writing but required for the MS in Clinical Psychology.

4. The Professional Portfolio & Writing Sample

  • MFA Creative Writing: A portfolio of 20-30 pages of original prose or 10-15 poems is the primary weight of the application.

  • Master of Architecture (M.Arch): A digital design portfolio showcasing spatial reasoning and 3D modeling (PDF or URL).

  • MS Programs: A "Statement of Research Intent" outlining your proposed capstone or thesis area.

5. Letters of Professional Recommendation

  • Requirement: Three (3) letters are required for all graduate programs.

  • Preference: At least two letters should come from academic faculty who can attest to your research potential; one may be a professional supervisor.

6. The Graduate Statement of Purpose (SoP)

  • Focus: A 1,000-word essay detailing your professional trajectory. How will the mentorship of our Faculty Legends (e.g., Dr. Peter Drucker or Dr. Ada Lovelace) help you achieve your specific career goals in 2026 and beyond?

  • We welcome students from around the world to join our diverse community. International applicants follow the same application process with additional requirements:

    Undergraduate

    • English proficiency test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo)

      • TOEFL (iBT): Minimum 90 (100+ recommended)

      • IELTS: Minimum 7.0 (7.5+ recommended)

      • Duolingo English Test: Minimum 115 (125+ recommended)

    • Financial documentation for visa purposes

    • International credential evaluation (if applicable)

    Graduate

    1. Academic Credential Evaluation

    • Standard: All transcripts from non-US institutions must undergo a course-by-course evaluation.

    • Preferred Agencies:WES (World Education Services) or ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators).

    • Purpose: To verify that the international degree is equivalent to a four-year US Bachelor’s degree.

    2. English Language Proficiency (ELP)

    • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 90 (with no sub-score below 20).

    • IELTS: Minimum overall band of 7.0.

    • Duolingo English Test (DET): Minimum score of 120.

    • Waiver: May be granted if the applicant’s prior degree was earned in a country where English is the sole official language of instruction.

    3. Financial Certification (I-20 Process)

    • Requirement: Proof of adequate funding for one full year of tuition and living expenses.

    • Documentation: Certified bank statements and a signed Affidavit of Support.

    4. Graduate-Specific Documentation

    • GRE/GMAT: Most graduate programs (like the MBA and MSEng) require official scores. Code: [Insert University Code].

    • Resume/CV: Detailed professional history, especially for the MBA and MPH programs.

  • The best way to experience Affinity University is through our guided Campus Tours and Information Sessions.

    • Standard Weekday Tours: Monday–Friday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

    • Saturday "Select" Sessions: Held the first Saturday of every month at 11:00 AM.

    • Specialty Tours: Department-specific tours (STEM, Arts, or Business) are available by request for Graduate Applicants.

    • What’s Included: A walkthrough of the Renaissance Studio, Turing Logic Lab, and Da Vinci Design Center, plus a student perspective from our Ambassadors of Legend.

  • We look forward to welcoming you! Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for check-in at the Welcome Center.

    • Parking: Follow signs for Admissions Visitor Parking.

    • Cost: Parking is Free for all tour guests; no permit is required.

    • Overflow: If the visitor lot is full, please follow staff directions to additional guest spaces.

Your Next Steps

Welcome to the Affinity community. To finalize your enrollment and prepare for your first semester with our Faculty Legends, please complete the following milestones:

Step 1: Confirm Your Intent to Enroll

  • Action: Secure your place in the incoming class by submitting the Intent to Enroll form via your Applicant Dashboard.

  • Deposit: A non-refundable enrollment deposit of $200 is required to hold your seat (applied toward your first-semester tuition).

2. Submit Final Official Transcripts

  • Final Review: All admitted students must submit a final, official high school transcript (showing graduation date) or final university transcripts.

  • Support Services: This is the window to apply for Student Disability Services (SDS) or verify eligibility for state-specific tuition grants and the Affinity Dream Act for qualifying undocumented students.

3. Activate Your "AffinityID" & Placement

  • Digital Access: Claim your AffinityID to access your university email and the "Legend-Link" student portal.

  • Placement: Based on your academic history, you may be required to complete Guided Placement in Mathematics or Foreign Languages to ensure you are enrolled in the correct course level.

4. Orientation & Academic Advising

  • Mandatory Orientation: All new students must complete the New Student Orientation (NSO), available in both on-campus and virtual formats.

  • Advising: Following NSO, you will meet with an Academic Counselor to map out your degree path and ensure your credits align with your chosen Division (STEM, Business, Arts, etc.).

5. Register for Classes & Finalize Logistics

  • Registration: Log in to the Legend-Link Portal, select "Course Registration," and build your schedule.

  • Campus Essentials: * Print your final schedule.

    • Secure your Affinity Photo ID and Parking Permit.

    • Visit the Affinity Campus Store (online or in-person) to purchase or rent your textbooks.

    • Finalize payment for tuition and fees via the Bursar’s Office.

6. Attend Your First Class

  • You are officially ready! Check your AffinityID email for your first-day syllabus and prepare to engage with the greatest minds in history.
